Her Story
Liz describes her work as carrying forward her grandmother's remedies — traditional, whole-plant preparations rather than concentrated essential oils, which shows up in how she brands everything she makes. Even the business name has a story behind it: "Herbs The Word" nods to Simon & Garfunkel's "Scarborough Fair," itself a reworking of a 16th-century English ballad about parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme — herbs she says traditionally stood for bitterness, strength, faithfulness, and courage, and which "also make a pretty good all-purpose BBQ rub." It's a fitting throughline for a business built on old traditions turned into something you'd actually want on your kitchen counter. Her own philosophy, in her words: "If you're not learning, you're NOT living."
